FSTUC (Formula Students - Technical University of Crete) is a student racing team founded in November 2020, committed to the design and construction of a high-performance racing car. The team consists of 24 active members, who with the support of TurboLab - TUC are developing the prototype vehicle which will compete in Formula Student competitions around the world.
Formula Student is the most established educational engineering competition in Europe, using motorsport to inspire pupils and students from around the world. It provides an ideal opportunity for students to demonstrate their engineering knowledge, by testing and refining their skills to deliver a complex and integrated product in the demanding environment of a motorsport competition. In doing so, teamwork, complex problem solving, selection of optimal solutions and critical thinking are promoted. Furthermore, students are evaluated according to their performance in the following subjects: design, cost and manufacturing, business plan, skid pad, sprint, endurance and acceleration.
The FSTUC workroom is located in TurboLab. The Laboratory of Turbine Machinery & Fluid Dynamics serves educational and research needs in the scientific fields: "Technical Thermodynamics", "Fluid Dynamics", "Heat Transfer", "Thermal Turbines", "Hydrodynamic Submersible", "Hydrodynamic Turbine Engineering", "Heat", "Aerodynamics", "Gas Dynamics" and "Optimal Turbine Component Design".
